Looking into the depths of mails-the-man-to-abolish-as-she-just-good-are I've found the following. A mail received in 2002
This is the transcript of a radio conversation that has actually taken place in October 1995 between a U.S. Marine vehicle and Canadian authorities off the coast of Newfoundland. It was published on 10.10.1995 by the Chief of Naval Operations.
Americans: Please divert your course 15 degrees north to avoid a collision.
Canadians: Recommend you change your course 15 degrees to avoid the south, to a collision.
Americans: This is the captain of a ship of the U.S. Navy. I say it once
: Change YOUR course.
Canadians: No. I say again, you divert YOUR course.
Americans: THIS IS THE AIRCRAFT CARRIER "U.S. LINCOLN, the second largest SHIP IN THE UNITED STATES ATLANTIC FLEET. WE ARE THREE DESTROYERS, THREE CRUISERS AND SEVERAL AUXILIARY VESSELS ACCOMPANY. I DEMAND THAT YOUR COURSE 15 DEGREES NORTH, THAT'S ONE FIVE DEGREES NORTH, CHANGE, OR COUNTER-MEASURES WILL BE TAKEN TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF THIS SHIP.
Canadians: This is a lighthouse. It's your turn.
